A gift to Katchie's Teacher Training Class
Katchie's teacher training class will have the opportunity to choose how to to spread what they've learned off the mat, and into their lives and the lives of their future students. They can choose whether to give $1,000 to one of two charitable causes, working to improve the world in very different ways.
AMF distributes bednets in the third world, which has been proven to save lives and reduce illnesses. Childhood malaria can cause permanent developmental damage and keeps children out of school, yet many lack for a $5 bednet.
AMF has a strong, documented track record, highly cost-effective activities, room for more funding, and transparency and accountability to donors. Highly regarded independent charity evaluator GiveWell has made AMF it's top recommended charity.
Spirit Rock is dedicated to the teachings of the Buddha as presented in the vipassana tradition. The practice of mindful awareness, called Insight meditation, is at the heart of all the activities at Spirit Rock. They provide silent meditation retreats, as well as classes, trainings, and Dharma study opportunities for new and experienced students from diverse backgrounds with a willingness to develop their own practice.
Jack Kornfield is one of Katchie's teachers, and one of the founding teachers at Spirit Rock. A donation to Spirit Rock would allow Katchie Ananda to join the Sangha of Thousands of Buddhas community, and would be used to support Spirit Rock's efforts.
